Santa Cruz is home to one of the best seaside amusement parks. The Stata Cruz Beach boardwalk is always free and has something enjoyable for everyone. NOt only are there some roller coasters you can ride, you can enjoy arcades and minigolf around the area. The rides are mostly open on the weekend so make sure you check the calendar prior to planning to go on the rides. One of the most famous rides is the “Giant Dipper” a roller coaster that’s popular with kids and adults. It is one of the oldest roller coasters ever made. The lines are not too long, which makes it even better. The nice thing about the boardwalk is its cleanliness. Everything is well maintained, including the bathrooms! Also in the summer on Friday nights, there are concerts between 6:30 – 8:30 p.m. With a kickback beach atmosphere, you can’t be at a better place.

Another enjoyable activity to do in Santa Cruz is the Roaring Camp Railroads. More information can be obtained from www.roaringcamp.com. The highlight of this railroad trip is its passage through the Redwoods. The train ride is about an hour and although the price is a bit on the expensive side (around $20 per person), you will get an exhilarating experience among the towering redwoods. My family and I had an enjoyable time enjoying the sites and the cool shade of the redwoods. I will say that the only drawback was that the seats were a bit dirty. They could use some better maintenance. Roaring Camp Railroad offers different excursions. One is through the redwoods and the other one takes you to the boardwalk I mentioned above. You also have a choice of indoor or outdoor seating. I recommend the outdoor seating so you can experience nature at its fullest.

Mystery Spot is another place near Santa Cruz that every visitor has to experience. The best way to describe this place is that it’s a place where gravity is defied. For example, people that are shorter than you can appear taller, balls roll uphill, pendulums don’t swing like they are supposed to and trees seem to grow from strange angles. Make sure when you go here that you make reservations. If you go without a reservation, you may have to wait around 2 hours if you are unlucky. The tour takes about 35-40 minutes. The great thing about this place is the price. It will cost you only $5 to see this marvelous place. Don’t forget to get your free bumper stickers at the end of the tour!

West Cliff Drive is one amazing place to visit as well. It is the nicest place in Santa Cruz to do anything from walking, biking or staking. It connects from the boardwalk all the way to Natural bridges. It is a must visit place to enjoy life away from the hassles of the city. Hear the ocean, listen to children play, see sea lions and so much more. This is a place that was truly touched by nature and is simply spectacular.
